Pioneer Giannini Bruno founded the initial company that bears his name at age 35. After 16 years of quarry experience, he decided to open a new mining area in the municipality of Lodrino. With one employee, a wooden crane and a processing area, he launched his new venture. During the economic expansion of the 1960s, the granite industry flourished and Lodrino had 20 active quarries.
Extraction was based on mine blasting using black powder. The extracted blocks were sectioned directly in the quarry since an excavator was not affordable. All work was done by hand or with the help of a pneumatic perforator. Beginning in 1961, with an area of 1,000 sq. m, the quarry produced enough to fill two six-ton lorries a week. By 1965, the company had five employees and more than ten trucks operating per week due to Bruno Giannini's enterprising spirit. In 1967, Giannini, Bruno and Co. was founded with the acquisition of another company just outside Lodrino. This area, heralding the company's future expansion, is still involved in processing and extraction by Giannini Graniti SA.
